1394 TRADE ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE
Newnex Technology Corporation Earns First 1394a Cable and Connector Compliance Logo from the 1394 Trade Association
Dallas and Sunnyvale, Calif., March 1, 2007 – Newnex Technology Corporation today became the first company to earn the 1394 Trade Association’s compliance logo for its 1394a cables and connectors. The logo indicates that products comply with the 1394 Trade Association’s Cable and Connector Compliance Test Specification, which was established last autumn.
Newnex has successfully completed compliance logo testing for their 6-pin to 6-pin and 4-pin to 4-pin cables. “Newnex has emerged as the first cable and connector supplier to achieve compliance,” said James Snider, executive director of the 1394 Trade Association. “We are pleased to make this announcement, and anticipate that other leading manufacturers will have their cable and connector products certified for the logo in the near future.”
The Compliance Logo Program is designed to complement the IEEE 1394a standard, which specifies product design at the level of interfaces and mechanisms. Companies can submit their cables and connectors to one of the test organizations certified by the 1394 Trade Association -- ETC of Taiwan, NTS and Contech Research of the United States – for certification testing.
Using the 1394TA certified cables and connectors increases product reliability and customer confidence, and enables OEMs to use 1394TA certified cables and connectors for their own 1394-equipped devices and products, Snider said.
The Cable and Connector Working Group is now developing the specifications and process for 1394b cable/connector compliance logo testing program.
The 1394 Trade Association is a worldwide organization dedicated to the advancement and enhancement of the 1394 standard. For more information, please visit www.1394ta.org
