1394 Trade Association 2010 Board of Directors Includes Representatives from Texas Instruments, LSI, Littelfuse

The 1394 Trade Association has elected a new Board of Directors for 2010, led by members from industry leaders Texas Instruments, LSI, and Littelfuse.

Returning as chairman will be Max Bassler, one of the organization’s founders and a veteran of three terms as chair, representing Littelfuse Corporation.  Vice Chair is Richard Mourn of Astek, Inc., another FireWire veteran who helped develop the IEEE 1394 standard while at Texas Instruments Corporation and Quantum Parametrics.   The secretary is Dave Thompson of LSI; financial officer is Don Harwood of the Oxford Semiconductor division at PLX Technology; and the 1394 Trade Association documents editor is Toni Ray of Texas Instruments.

Other board members include Morten Lave of TC Applied Technologies; Dimitrios Staikos of Codemost; and Rainer Gutzmer of Hella Aglaia, Gmbh.

“We are looking forward to another year of strong, steady growth in the adoption of FireWire,” said Bassler, who estimated that by year’s end there will be almost 2 billion FireWire ports in use worldwide.  “In addition to continued growth in PCs, storage and consumer electronics markets, the adoption of 1394 continues in the automotive, industrial, professional audio, and military-aerospace sectors.  Also this year, we will see the advancement of the 1394 standard in hardware to unprecedented speeds, from 1.6 Gigabits/second to 3.2 Gigabits/second.”
